Address: 200 N. Michigan Street
Current Use(s): Allison Kara State Farm Insurance
Year Built: 1884
Design: Italianate
The Allison Kara State Farm Insurance building was built in 1884 and has an Italianate design. It’s found on 200 N. Michigan Street. The building once served as the Plymouth Post office, but it was moved a while later. The second story of this building was once a bowling alley. I imagine that the building was a loud place. It’s the most ornate building downtown, with circular windows, decorative panels above the windows, and lion’s head medallions line the top of the building. It was home to Parwell’s Hardware for decades.
